Our Home Economics facilities are fully equipped with 6 high specification hobs and ovens, microwaves and teacher demonstration camera. There is also a multi-purpose room equipped with computers to assist teaching ICT through Home Economics. Home Economics is divided into 3 key concepts:
Home Economics is a practical subject which motivates our pupils and enables them to learn about nutrition and cookery skills in real life contexts.
In Year 8 we will learn about good foods to eat and make some healthy snacks such as French Bread Pizza, Vegetable Soup, Wheaten Bread, and of course sweet treats too—Raspberry Ruffles, Scones and Banana Muffins.
All pupils study Home Economics for their first three years.
At Key Stage 4, pupils can choose to study GCSE Hospitality or choose the Catering options of the Occupational Studies course. Our pupils achieve 100% pass rate with the majority achieving a Distinction.
