Year nine and ten students were given the opportunity to participate in a number of Shared Education Coding events with St Mary’s and Blackwater. Pupils integrated in a ‘Go Beserk’ coding day in Stranmillis College, Belfast. This was a fun, interactive day which highlighted many career pathways that open up through coding in ICT. The pupils were fortunate to be able to work with and talk to many IT professionals.
Teachers from all three schools collaborated and devised a shared lesson on HTML Coding. This activity took place in St Mary’s and pupils shared best practice with their peers on how to code an interactive website.
The local community, along with Board of Governors, Councilors, Parents and Principals were invited to the St Patrick’s Centre where pupils showcased their work.
De La Salle students have gained a broad range of ideas and a wealth of knowledge and confidence going in to the IT sector.
The internet and social media platforms are provided so pupils can conduct research and communicate with others to enhance their educational experience.
Parents’ permission is required and access to the internet is deemed a privilege. Internet safety information sessions are provided by external agencies; this promotes a safe and secure educational learning online.
